DJ Goodwin is Reena Goodwin and Jody Goodwin. We have been married since 2013 and live with our two cats in Cleveland, Ohio. By day, Reena works in marketing and communications and Jody works in web development and database management. In addition to building and blogging, DJ Goodwin is our passion project; deejaying started as just something fun to do once a month at a club and has now turned into a very fun side business. We play dozens of weddings and parties each year!
It’s no surprise, but we LOVE music. Like, we geek out about it. We went to rock shows starting in our early teens (yeah, still do), and Reena made music her life’s work, spending 12 years working in the music industry working for bands on Island Def Jam, RCA Records, and Sony Music. We love and play mostly indie rock, dance rock, electro-pop, 80s and 90s music. During a dance party, it’s common you’ll also hear us play Motown, soul, party jams, some classic rock, electronic and alternative, and even some Top 40. Listen to some playlists on our Spotify page!
We are not wedding DJs, but we DJ weddings. When it comes to weddings, our style is for couples who are looking for fun music at their wedding that does not fit the “typical wedding DJ” style. We don’t play line dances. We don’t play contemporary country music. We don’t play much rap, either. (Nothing wrong with these genres, they just don’t fit with our style at this time!) We don’t yell any lyrics or demands into the microphone throughout the night. We’re pretty low-key. We believe that a couple is the star of the night— not the DJs— and the music should do the entertaining!
All in all, we love the music that we play and love to bring that passion to the dance floor celebrating two people in love. And it’s not unlikely you’ll see us dancing along behind the booth!
It’s all about having a little fun, right?
